Hey, I’m Niko Hyytiä, and I work as a Software Developer at ALM Partners. I have completed a bachelor's degree in computer science at university, and I am currently working on my master's thesis. I joined ALMP in the fall of 2019 after spotting their job posting on the university mailing list. ALMP was my first full-time job in the IT field, and I’ve learned a great deal from my professional colleagues. I joined ALMP during my master’s studies, so the new job initially impacted my studies negatively. Thanks to ALMP’s flexibility, I was able to take courses alongside my regular work or temporarily work shorter weeks to allocate time and energy to my studies.

My first project involved building our Anacobra application. The work truly encompassed full-stack development, as I was involved in constructing the database, backend, and frontend. Given our relatively small development team, every developer has the opportunity to participate in various stages of software development and maintenance in ways they prefer. I also spent an entire year as a client consultant, even though I’ve only been at ALMP for just over a year. This experience boosted my confidence, showing that ALMP values my contributions. Currently I hold technical development responsibility for our KP_REP product.

Working at ALMP has been fantastic! The work community is supportive, and colleagues have the chance to engage in various leisure activities together. My personal favorites have been the company’s summer parties and winter parties, as well as participating in the Helsinki City Running Day marathon relay.
