Essi Tervonen
AnalystI’m Essi Ruotsalainen, and I work at ALM Partners in regulatory reporting. I joined ALMP in October 2021 as an Analyst Trainee, having just graduated with a master’s degree in economics, and I’ve been enjoying this journey for nearly two years now. The job advertisement promised diverse tasks related to banking regulation, and that has certainly been the case for me. It was also wonderful to see that the positive vibe I sensed during the recruitment process truly held up!
I found the trainee period to be an excellent deep dive into the regulatory requirements of the financial sector, complete with comprehensive training. During the trainee period, I was involved in an internal product development project and communicated current news about regulatory matters internally through monthly reviews.
Towards the end of the trainee period, I was offered a permanent position and continued my career in regulatory reporting. At this point, I took on the production of various regulatory reports for client banks on a quarterly and annual basis. I didn’t notice a significant difference in my tasks or overall workload at the end of the trainee period, as the new responsibilities had gradually become part of my role over the six-month period.
Currently, my work primarily consists of producing regulatory reports for clients, monitoring banking regulations, and participating in various client projects. What I find best about this role is the variety and challenge of the tasks, which I get to tackle together with fantastic colleagues!
It’s been particularly great to see that at ALMP, it’s possible to influence your own job description, and there’s genuine interest in individuals’ preferences. Even though ALMP’s staff has grown significantly in less than two years, the same relaxed and perhaps even somewhat even homely atmosphere has persisted. In summary, I can say that I’ve been very satisfied working at ALMP and feel that I’ve been given more responsibility as my skills have developed. I can recommend applying to ALMP—"Serious about work, light at heart” truly holds! 😊
